This photograph of Volcá de Agua, an inactive volcano that towers over the south edge of Antigua, was taken from a gas station. I was filling up a Honda 250 motorcycle in the vain hopes of riding it to the top of the volcano. Five minutes after I made this picture, I was off the safe confines of the pavement and jostling across rock, scree and sand until a minor crash nearly spelled doom for my left ankle. Thankfully the bike had crash bars on the engine and they managed to protect the bike so that I received my security deposit back, minus $12 US for a rear mirror replacement. I like to think this image made the experience worth it.

If you are interested in trying to ride a motorcycle to the top of Agua or around Central America, check out CATours.
